Going stealthy with the Casio Edifice ECB900PB-1A

I feel like I have looked at a lot of watches from the Casio Edifice lineup (protip: this one is my favorite so far). In fact, in some ways, the lineup is sort of like the weather. Don’t like what you see? Well, just wait awhile, because another one will come along that you might like the looks of. On the most recent ones I’ve spent time with is the Casio Edifice ECB900PB-1A.

Getting smart with the Skagen Falster 2 Smartwatch

I have a bit of a conflicted relationship with smart watches. As a watch guy, I like seeing new stuff coming into the market, mixing up the standard offerings that we’ve got. As a gadget guy, all the new “gee whiz” stuff is just fun to play around with. So, if you were to marry those two, you’d think it would be just about perfect for me. To date, however, smart watches haven’t cut the mustard. I recently spent some time with the Skagen Falster 2 smartwatch to see if my opinion could be changed.

TotalWatchRepair showed me how much was in a quartz movement

When it comes to watches, many of us find the complex mechanical watches to be technical marvels, and we’re of course drawn like moths to the flash and dash of the smart watches out there. But what of the “lowly” quartz movement? I recently got to see just what all was comprised of one when I sent my Mido Ocean Star President over to TotalWatchRepair for some TLC.

The Polar Ignite is available in some other colors

Hey, so remember the Polar Ignite that we reviewed earlier this week? While I thought there were some technical shortcomings that firmware and app development could overcome, it’s not a bad fitness watch. It just needed some more time in the usability labs. That aside, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more compact fitness-oriented watch.
