The Afternoon Beer Break: New Belgium 1554

If you’ve not caught on yet, I’ve got a few breweries that I tend to favor more, and explore a wider variety of their offerings. You know, some, you’ve got one you know you like, and you stick with just that (perhaps got burned by trying a different style). Then there are others that, whatever the style and flavor combo, they just seem to be right in your wheelhouse. New Belgium is one of those brands for me. While most are familiar with Fat Tire (which is “just ok” in my book), I’ve liked more of the Voodoo Ranger offerings. Well, after chatting with Patrick Morgan for an interview (seen here), I’ve tried others, and today we’re talking about the New Belgium 1554.

Afternoon Beer Break – some newer offerings from Rogue

As often as we can – whatever it is we’re covering – we like to go hands-on with the product in question. And, in all of our Afternoon Beer Breaks, we’ve done precisely that. Today, however, we’re going to cover things from a distance, so to speak, and talk to you about a few newer offerings coming out from Rogue.

Afternoon Beer Break: Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls & Money

Sometimes, when you head to the store, you’re not quite sure what you’re looking for. Other times, you’ve got something specific in mind, but other trips, you’re just seeing what will grab your eyes. That’s how I ended up picking up some Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls & Money a little bit ago.

Afternoon Beer Break: Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve

Well, friends, we’ve made it through another work week. For many of you, this probably signals the start of a long stretch of time off. Whether or not you celebrate the upcoming events, you can’t help but to be aware of the bearded dude in the red suit popping up everywhere. In fact, he showed up on a surprise shipment that came in from Rogue, in the form of the Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve.

Afternoon Beer Break: Begyle Flannel Pajamas

Ah, fall. Which, in the midwest, can just as easily swing into winter, back up into Indian Summer, then zip back to throwing some snow on the ground. Which means – along with the furnace being turned on – it’s time to break out the jams. The warm pajamas, that is. And hey, why not mix a stout in there too? Well, the Begyle Flannel Pajamas will cover off on both of those bases.

The Afternoon Beer Break: Southern Tier Pumking

When it comes to fall, I make no bones about it – I’m a huge fan of pumpkin pie, and most things that carry the pumpkin pie spice mix in their makeup. A lot of it can be hit or miss, especially when it comes to beer. Many of these just take whatever their standard ale is, toss some pie spice in, and call it a day. Then there are those that go above and beyond. One such of these has become an annual favorite of mine – the Southern Tier Pumking.

Afternoon Beer Break: Old Nation M-43 IPA

Well, friends, we made it through another work week, and you know what that means – it’s time for an afternoon beer break. Last week I went with a more local brew, and today, we’re talking about one that’s from the state that I used to call home, Michigan. Let’s have a gander at what the Old Nation M-43 IPA.

Afternoon Beer Break: Black Horizon Campfire Fun

Along with the Black Horizon Stealing Sunshine that I had come in via a new #Beerstagram community friend (Just.Me.and.My.Beer), we also had another bottle come along for the ride. This one was one I was saving for a special occasion. Well, it was my birthday the other day, and I thought that merited breaking open the Black Horizon Campfire Fun, and then review it for all of you.
