While I’m a big proponent of using headphones for work calls these days, there are certainly situations where a speaker phone can be handy (multiple people on your side on the same call, for instance), or you are just tired of the headphones clamped on your ears. If you want a super-compact speakerphone to have in your work bag, the Audeze Filter has some interesting tricks up it’s sleeves.

First, and perhaps the most important, is that the dual mics – along with an chip-driven AI algorithm – can eliminate a lot of background noise automatically, allow your voice to come through cleanly on the other side. The mics can also “beam form”, which means they’ll pick up with the person (or persons) speaking are, and narrow to pick up the audio coming from just those areas.

Of course, if you’re in a noisy area, you need to be able to hear, right? Well, the Audeze Filter has you covered there as well. At it’s normal volume, it tops out at 85dB, which is still plenty loud. Need even more? Put it into Ludicrous mode, and you can top out at 118dB, which could do some damage if you’re not careful. Of this is courtesy of their planar magnetic speaker setup, which no doubt carried over from their headphone developments.

All in all, if you need a speakerphone, the Audeze Filter has a lot going for it. Aside from what should be clear audio reproduction, it can connect wired or wirelessly, and can run for up to 15 hours. More than enough to get through your work day, for sure. If you want to pick one up, they’re $249 and should be shipping this month. audeze.com
