The Subtitle website OpenSubtitles recently suffered a hack in which a malicious party exploited a series of vulnerabilities to gain access to 6.7 million users’ information.

Upon notifying the OpenSubtitles administrator, the malicious user helped them fix the vulnerability, then requested an unknown amount of bitcoin in exchange for deleting the data.

After paying the ransom, the data still surfaced online, leaking usernames, emails, Ip addresses, countries, and unsalted MD5 password hashes.

If you want to check which of your accounts, if any, have been in a data breach, we recommend to search for your account information on HaveIBeenPwned.com.
