With our various media collections, it can be tricky to keep track of what services you’ve purchased what on. Once upon a time, it was simple – you went to your shelf, grabbed the disc, and away you went. Now, with so much of it delivered digitally (even if you have a Blu-ray), it can be tricky to remember where you’ve got things, let alone have a unified search. The Vizio Movies Anywhere looks to correct that issue.

How so? Well, provided you have a Vizio SmartCast TV, this is something you can do today, courtesy of Vizio Movies Anywhere. Here’s how they say it works:

MOVIES ANYWHERE brings together users? movie collections from Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures (including DreamWorks and Illumination Entertainment), The Walt Disney Studios (including Disney, Pixar, Twentieth Century Studios, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm), and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

The app enables consumers to sync their movie collections across digital accounts – Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu/Walmart, Xfinity, Google Play/YouTube, Microsoft Movies & TV, FandangoNOW and Verizon Fios TV – bringing together one cohesive movie collection in seconds that can be played on their VIZIO SmartCast TV.

This doesn’t feel too dissimilar to what a Roku box can do, searching for content amongst the various “channels” you have installed. This is adding in the additional capability to search – and pull together – the various spots (in this case, movie studios) that you may have purchased your entertainment from.

In our minds, anything that makes finding your stuff easier is great in our book. And the fact that it’s a free thing being added to a TV you may already have, that’s just icing on the cake. I haven’t followed other TV manufacturers closely, but Vizio seems to be constantly working on and iterating on their platform, delivering more value for their customers. vizio.com/smartcast
