Yesterday a friend got onto a Zoom call using some kind of cartoon avatar. The avatar, which gave him some sort of bitmoji-esque, completely featureless hellface, was pretty cute. Luckily, now we know what it is.

LoomAI is a Windows or MacOS app that can turn your face and environment into a cartoon. It’s especially useful for Zoom calls when you don’t want to show people you’re wearing a ratty old t-shirt stained with soup and grease and instead want to appear as an idealized version of yourself.

While I refuse to recommend this service to anyone, I’m sure you all will get a kick out of it and I suspect soon people will be deep faking Darth Vader and Billie Eilish in their Zoom calls so maybe humans deserve a pandemic.
