Last Wednesday, Apple announced that it would be rolling out the first phase of its digital driver’s license and state ID program in Arizona, which could make physical identification essentially obsolete, if implemented properly.

The program would utilize the iPhone’s wallet app, which is already home to membership cards, airplane tickets, and even virtual hotel keys. However, critics of the program fear that the digital wallet will be exposed to cyberattacks or malicious actors committing fraud.

In an attempt to quell these fears, Apple has stated that it will require users to complete facial and head scans during setup, of which these setups will need to be verified by individual states.
